Easy to get trip insurance

So, I was planning a trip with some friends and we decided to get some travel insurance, just in case. I ended up getting the Travel America Plan from Travelex. It was pretty straightforward to get a quote online and buy it. We didn't actually need to use it for anything, which is good, but it felt good knowing we had it. The whole process was pretty chill, not a lot of hassle at all. I might try them again for my next vacation, seemed solid.

Good value for family trip

I was looking for the best deal for our family vacation, especially since we had the kids with us. The Travel Select Plan ended up being a great choice because the 'kids included' feature saved us a good chunk of money compared to other quotes I got. The overall price felt very fair for the amount of coverage we received, including trip cancellation and baggage loss. It felt like good value for what we paid, and that's important for a budget-conscious traveler like me.

Good basic coverage

Got the Travel Basic Plan for a short domestic trip. It covered what I needed. No issues with the purchase process. Quick and to the point.

Travel Select was perfect

I purchased the Travel Select Plan for my family's trip to Italy, and it was such a relief! We had a small medical issue come up while we were there, and filing a claim was surprisingly easy. The emergency medical expense coverage really came through for us. I was worried about all the paperwork, but their process was very clear. Will definitely use them again for our next big adventure. I've already told my sister about it for her upcoming cruise!

Hey, thinking of getting travel insurance for my trip to Europe. Does Travelex cover stuff like sudden illness or losing my luggage while I'm over there?

N Nick 3 weeks ago
Yeah, they totally do. I used them for a trip to Italy last year and had a medical emergency, they covered it. Just make sure you get a plan that includes it, usually the Travel Select one.

Most of their plans, especially for international travel, will cover medical emergencies and baggage loss. It's pretty standard for them.

Can I cancel my policy if my trip gets postponed and get a refund? Or am I stuck with it?

A Alex 1 month ago
You usually have a 'free look' period after buying it, like 10-15 days, where you can cancel for a full refund if you haven't started your trip or filed a claim. Check your policy docs for the exact window.

Yeah, there's a specific timeframe, often called a review period. If you cancel within that time and haven't used any benefits, you should get your money back.

Do I need a special promo code for the military discount, or how do I get that applied?

L Laura Romero 3 weeks ago
I don't think they use traditional promo codes for military discounts. It's usually something that gets factored in during the quote process or you might need to mention it to a rep.

From what I remember, direct percentage codes are kinda rare with Travelex. Discounts are usually built into the plan pricing for things like military or groups.

What's the deal with pre-existing conditions? My mom has a heart condition, will she be covered for her trip?

T Todd 2 weeks ago
They have something called a 'Pre-existing Condition Waiver' but you usually need to buy the plan really early, shortly after your first trip payment, and be medically able to travel at that time. Also, you have to insure the full non-refundable cost of your trip.

M Mia Lindqvist 2 weeks ago
For pre-existing conditions, you often need to meet specific criteria for the waiver, like purchasing the plan within a certain window of your initial trip deposit, and making sure your trip cost is fully covered. There's usually a 'look-back period' too, where they check your medical history for a few months prior.

I'm thinking of getting the 'Cancel For Any Reason' upgrade. Is it worth it, and how does it actually work?

C Carly Whitfield 1 month ago
CFAR can be super useful if you're worried about things not covered by standard cancellation, like just changing your mind. You won't get 100% back, but it's a good chunk, typically 50-75% depending on the plan.

W Wendy Whitfield 1 month ago
It's a definite upgrade and costs more. It means you can cancel for literally any reason, but you usually only get a percentage of your non-refundable costs back, not the full amount. Make sure to buy it early in your booking process too, there's usually a time limit after your initial trip deposit.
